An Essential Guide to Being Productive This Quarantine.

At the beginning of quarantine I struggled gaining and maintaining motivation to wake up early and have a productive day. I guess the most difficult aspect of it was the fact that there were endless options I could choose from, with so much free time I didn't know where to start. All I knew was that I wasn't going to continue letting the idea of what could be done take time away from what I could already be doing. As a high leveled procrasinator, this type of mentality took a while to develop and actually act upon. Pre-quarantine I started applying to a good handful of programs in hopes that I'd get into at least one, I continued doing this even in quarantine. I forgot the amount of programs I applied to but I ended up accepting 5, I knew I wanted to do all 5 because they were all different and interested me a lot. I was excited to grow in different ways this summer so the next step in this process was planning and organizing my summer schedule. I had a lot of fun doing this because I like to envision my ideas and thoughts visually, mostly in google drive or cute notes. So my advice to you this quarantine is if you haven't already, create a weekly schedule and to-do list. Not only will you be more organized and feel productive when you finished something but it will make it easier for you to hold yourself accountable. Plus I feel like when you have exact plans for the day ahead, you feel more motivated to start your day off strong. Personally, I've always been a semi-healthy person, my digestive issues, pickiness and joy for running made me this way. I refer to myself as being semi-healthy because sometimes I do struggle eating enough food for the day because of my pickiness. Now let's start talking about how you can start your day off strong, usually waking up a little early and giving yourself time to have a relaxed and calm morning works best, especially on your busiest days. This is because although you may believe alarming yourself to rush in the morning may feel more awakening it isn't the best option. Of course you become more awake but do you really want to stress yourself out that early in the morning. I usually try to give myself an hour or two to get ready. During this time I feel that it's best to start off with a shower, not only because it wakes me up but mostly because starting the day off clean makes me feel refreshed and ready for all the things I have planned. Then I usually follow up with a fulfilling breakfast, usually oatmeal with some berries because I love oatmeal or a yogurt parfait. Other days I choose a mostly veggie based omlet with a sandwich on the side or boiled eggs, avocado toast and a green smoothie. Those are also some of my favorites because I'm a big fruits and vegetables eater. However,if you aren't that's fine too but I would suggest to check out this website fro some healthy breakfast ideas! There's a ton of healthy options to check out here: Healthy Recipes! Another way you can make you can start your day right is by fixing your bed. I feel that some people don't know the importance of this so I'm adding this youtube ink here that my teacher showed back in June, this is the title: Navy Seal Admiral Shares Reasons to Make Bed Everyday. Another thing you might consider doing in the morning is a little bit of self-care or spedning some time just enjoying your own company, this could be by either watching some cool YouTube videos, reading, journaling, drawing/painting, praying, meditating or incorporating some phyiscal activity (it could be anything like a workout, yoga, boxing, jogging/running, jump rope or a bike ride). Just make sure to shower afterwards to prevent smelling bad and getting body acne. Now around this time you can start scheduling your day, by including breaks where you can move around, eat or just enjoy time by yourself. The activities you choose to do are completely up to you but don't be shy to try learning new things or joining new events and programs. It might be too late to attend a summer program but it's never too late to be productive. Research things you can do based on your interests, practice some of your hobbies or just work on yourself, a project or something new. But most importanntly, spend time with your family, they won't be alive forever so make sure you show them how much you love them!
